2001 ▼ 2004 |
Flystudio was established as a CG (Computer Generated) Production Studio, focusing on VFX for TV commercials (TVCM) and feature films. The studio gained international acclaim in 2003 with the TVCM for Munchy’s Mini Tiger Bar, which won 3rd prize at the Anicomm Awards (US). Locally, Channel [V]’s The Ticket earned the Kancil Award for Best Use of Motion Graphics. By 2004, Flystudio expanded into feature films, contributing to local hits like Pontianak, Gong, and Buli Balik, with standout VFX-heavy projects like Senario XX. |
2005 ▼ 2007 |
The studio ventured into animation, creating SITI, a CG character for Tourism Malaysia’s marketing campaign targeting Japan and Korea. Flystudio also entered the gaming industry, producing 3D in-game assets for international developers. By 2007, the studio restructured into specialized departments, boosting growth and securing projects like Soyjoy – Soypermarket in the Indonesian TVC market. |

Flystudio cemented its reputation with the award-winning Nippon Paint Blobby commercials and Malaysia’s first high-definition TVC for Astro B.yond HD. It also expanded into international markets, producing TVCs for India, Vietnam, China, and Dubai, while beginning its journey in game cinematics in Japan. |
2011 ▼ 2012 |
Joining the Digital Frontier Group, Flystudio contributed to the animated feature Resident Evil: Damnation and launched its game art division, working on major titles like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The studio’s work on Resident Evil: Degeneration achieved significant global success, grossing over 40 million yen and selling 1.6 million DVDs and Blu-rays worldwide. |

Flystudio strengthened its portfolio with projects like Ryuu ga Gotoku Isshin, Ryuu ga Gotoku 0, GANTZ: O, Tekken 7, and the anime series Infini-T Force. These projects demonstrated the studio’s growing expertise across games, animation, and feature films. |
2007 ▼ 2018 |
Founder Wee Meng Hee reacquired Flystudio and restructured it into agile, cross-functional teams, entering the Chinese, Korean, and Japanese VFX markets. The studio co-produced projects like the Ultraman VR movie and expanded to Shenzhen, China, securing contracts for NeZha and Jiang Ziya. It also collaborated with Mara Corporation on talent training programs. |
2019 ▼ 2020 |
Flystudio delivered 300 VFX shots for Netflix’s The Ghost Bride and produced the animated series Super Mind. Other notable projects included Mr. Midnight: Beware the Monsters, Takashi Miike’s The Great Yokai War: Guardians, and Ajwan, the MENA region’s first sci-fi animated series. The studio also won the Digital Content Grant for its IP project Stella War. |
2021 ▼ 2022 |
Expanding into North American and European markets, Flystudio collaborated with Pop Films and Warner Bros Animation, contributing to projects like Cloudy Mountain and the 3D redesign of Animaniacs. In Korea, Flystudio worked on high-profile projects like Alchemy of Souls, Island, and Reborn Rich, and internationally on Avatar: The Last Airbender. The Chipsmore Monopoly campaign earned multiple Kancil Awards. |

The studio embarked on producing its own IP film, A Mighty Adventure, and secured the contract for Gormiti – The New Era, continuing to push boundaries in animation and VFX. |
